Hood beaten in final minute

Dan Thomer of the DeSales Bulldogs (1-1) found Matthew Brancaccio on the left side in the final minute of regulation yesterday and he sneaked a shot past the goalie Sam Hofmann for a 9-8 victory over the host Hood Blazers (0-5).

Hood's Jason Anderson tied Chad Baker's school single-game scoring record with four goals.

Will Oconis won 13 of 21 faceoffs and picked up eight ground balls for the Blazers.

Jarryd Stamatelos turned away seven shots in the victory. Hofmann stopped 19 shots.


Delaware 16, UMBC 5 -- Casey McCrudden and Debbie Sloan each posted three goals and an assist to lead the Blue Hens (1-2) to a victory over the host Retrievers (1-2).

Virginia Tech 20, Mount St. Mary's 9 -- Jackie Gray and Jenna Reich paced the Hokies (3-3) with four goals and one assist apiece as they defeated the visiting Mountaineers (0-3).

McDaniel 16, Goucher 9 -- Connie Wuenschel recorded a career-high-tying six points on four goals and two assists to lead the Green Terror (3-0) to victory over the visiting Gophers (2-2).

Salisbury 23, Villa Julie 4 -- Natalie Degele totaled a game-high six points as the Sea Gulls (5-0, 2-0 Capital Athletic Conference) beat the Mustangs (1-4, 0-4) for their fifth straight victory. The starting attack line of Degele, Stephanie Shores and Sue Ackermann combined for 15 points.
