Has winter gotten under your skin?

A luxury apothecary and spa, bluemercury, recently opened at The Gallery at Harborplace downtown, aims to help smooth things out.

The national chain is new to Baltimore, but the store got its start seven years ago in Washington, D.C.

The atmosphere in bluemercury is clean and chic, with light wood floors strewn with blue oriental rugs, marble-top counters, velvety steel-blue chairs and ultra cool house music.

The products are strictly upscale, including Laura Mercier, Darphin, Trish McEvoy, Skinceuticals and Kiehl's. A generous number of testers let clients try before they buy. (I enjoyed a spritz of Fresh Sugar Blossom Eau de Parfum.)

With bluemercury's wide range of makeup, creams, gels and soaps -- some aimed specifically at men -- and their spa treatments, including a multitude of facials, the winter blues will be no more than a shea-butter memory.
