Government Center to change its hours

Hours at the South Carroll Government Center will change beginning Tuesday.

Staff from the permits and collections offices will be available in the center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The new hours are intended to accommodate residents who use the center more during business hours.

Residents can pay bills - water, sewer and property taxes - as well as apply for basic permits. Raffle permits and dog licenses also can be purchased there.

The South Carroll Government Center is located in the Eldersburg library, 6400 W. Hemlock Drive. For questions about permits, call 410-549-2721. Questions about collections should be directed to 410-549-3235.

Town Council meeting changed

The March 5 meeting of the Mount Airy Town Council has been rescheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 12 at the Mount Airy Town Hall, 10 S. Main St.

The date was changed to allow staff to settle into its new facility.

The town will hold an informal ribbon cutting of Town Hall at 7 p.m. March 12. A grand opening will be held next month.

Democratic Club meets tomorrow

The Carroll County Democratic Club will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Frisco Pub, Englar Road, Westminster.

The Carroll County Youth Services Bureau will give a presentation on the services it provides for families in the county.

Awards breakfast set for March 15

The Community Foundation of Carroll County will present its Carroll County Philanthropists of the Year Awards at a breakfast at 7 a.m. March 15 at the portico of St. John Church, 47 Monroe St., Westminster.

Honored this year are: Robert T. and Carolyn Scott, Family of the Year; Stewart N. Dutterer Flower Shop, Business of the Year; Mission of Mercy, NonProfit Organization of the Year; and Derrick Woolfson, Youth of the Year.

All other nominees will be recognized for exemplifying the spirit of giving in the community.

Tickets to the breakfast are $50 each or a table of 10 for $475. Reservations are required by March 8. Business attire is requested.
