Dulaney girls fall in 4A North semi

Speed defeated size as visiting Blake's four-guard lineup dominated in a 51-45 win over previously undefeated and seventh-ranked Dulaney last night in a Class 4A North regional semifinal.

The four starting guards, led by 14 points from Christine Weithman, scored 41 points. They also pestered the Lions' guards, accumulating 12 steals.

After giving up two straight baskets out of a tied halftime (19-19), the Bengals (16-5) of Montgomery County went on a 14-2 run and never yielded the lead.

The Lions (20-1) were led by Danielle Parker's 17 points.

Arundel 96, Broadneck 43 -- Ashley Davis scored a game-high 21 points to power the host Wildcats (21-4) past the Bruins (7-17) in Class 4A East. Arundel faces Old Mill in tomorrow's region final at 7 p.m.

Old Mill 79, South River 41 -- The host Patriots (21-4) went 21-for-29 from the free-throw line to beat the Seahawks in Class 4A East. Old Mill had three players score in double digits, including Sharelle Brooke with 10 points and six assists.

Western 38, Franklin 22 -- Akeema Richards had a game-high 21 points to power the host Doves (21-4) past the Indians in Class 3A North. Richards added 12 rebounds and seven steals. Western hosts City in tomorrow's regional final at 1 p.m.

Fallston 54, River Hill 40 -- Jess Harlee had a double double (18 points, 10 rebounds) and the visiting Cougars (22-7) beat the Hawks in Class 3A East.

Poly 70, Milford Mill 44 -- Teaunsha Robinson had a game-high 28 points and the visiting Engineers forced turnovers in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Millers (18-7) in Class 2A North.

Loch Raven 45, Eastern Tech 44 -- Ashley Ridgeway scored 14 points and the host Raiders (19-3) beat the Mavericks in Class 2A North.

Atholton 64, Glenelg 53 -- Brittany Coughlan scored 18 points to pace the host Raiders (22-3) past the Gladiators in Class 2A South.

Joppatowne 74, Parkside 62 -- Arielle Townes had 29 points and 10 rebounds as the host Mariners beat the Rams in Class 2A East.

Southern 79, North East 39 -- Brittany Wiseman had 23 points, 10 steals and five assists to lead the host Bulldogs past the Indians in Class 2A East. Southern (18-5) advanced to face Joppatowne in the region final.

Dunbar 67, Southside 51 -- Kiara Young scored 22 points and added eight assists as the Poets beat the visiting Jaguars in Class 1A North.

New Town 60, Rising Sun 35 -- Adepuju Awodipe scored 23 points and Tyra Breaux added 18 to lift the host Titans (24-1) over the visiting Tigers in Class 1A North.

Frederick Christian 44, Harford Christian 28 -- Kim Passarelli scored 14 points to lead the visiting Warriors (18-7) past the Eagles (19-11) in a Maryland Christian Schools Tournament semifinal. The Warriors face Lanham Christian for the title tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Washington Bible College.


Annapolis Area Christian School 54, Carroll Christian 46 -- Alex Stelfox had 12 points and 12 rebounds to help the Eagles (22-3) beat Carroll Christian in the Maryland Christian Schools Tournament Division I semifinal. AACS will play Covenant Knife tomorrow at 5 p.m. at Washington Bible College.
