Shooting -- A man, 30, was sitting at the wheel of his 2000 Dodge sedan with a male passenger, 33, in the front seat about 2:10 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of N. Streeper St. when a man tapped on the driver's-side window. When the driver rolled it down, the man fired into the car - the bullet grazing the driver's face and entering the passenger's right leg. Both were treated at area hospitals.
Robbery -- A gunman robbed Food Express in the 2300 block of Orleans St. of about $400 about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday after placing items on the counter as if to make a purchase.
Larceny from auto -- A hammer drill valued at $300 was stolen Tuesday from a construction site in the 400 block of Water St.
Arrest -- Simon Frederick, 22, was arrested Tuesday at his home in the 2000 block of McHenry St. by members of the Regional Warrant Apprehension Task Force on a charge of attempted murder. He was accused of attempting to shoot neighbor Stephen Gwinn, 22, in the 300 block of S. Payson St. on Feb. 15 and, when the gun failed to discharge, chasing him down the street with a knife. No injury resulted.
Burglary -- A diamond wedding band valued at $18,000, a watch, coins and cash were stolen Monday from the bedroom of a house in the first block of Granary Drive.
Burglary -- Someone broke into Kenwood High School in the 500 block of Stemmers Run Road over the weekend and stole several hand-held radios, cash and coins.
