Pepper -- 9:30 Club / Pepper surfs into the 9:30 Club on Wednesday, bringing its dancehall-reggae-punk mix direct from the Hawaiian Islands. This trio from Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, claims Nirvana, Black Sabbath and Pantera as influences and performed on the 2001 Warped Tour premiere side stage. Special guest Mad Caddies started in 1995 in Solvang, Calif., while some band members were still in high school. Florida ska group the Supervillains and Hawaii "surf bum rap" artist Splinta round out the show, which starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15. The club is at 815 V St. N.W., Washington. Steel Pulse -- Recher Theatre / It'll be a night for reggae grooves when British group Steel Pulse teams up with Baltimore's Jah Works on Wednesday at the Recher Theatre. Steel Pulse has been celebrating Africa and fighting racism in song for three decades. Jah Works has released six albums and sold more than 70,000 units without a record company or distribution deal. Buddy Jewell -- Rams Head Tavern / Country star Buddy Jewell was recognized as talented long before he finally found commercial success. He won a talent contest sponsored by the group Alabama in 1991, was named best male vocalist on several episodes of Star Search in 1992 and won the first season of Nashville Star in 2003.
