February 27, 2007|By Richard Irwin

An unidentified man was fatally shot yesterday evening on a street in West Baltimore's Harlem Park neighborhood - the city's 44th homicide this year, police said.

About 5:30 p.m., Western District officers investigating a report that a man had been shot found the victim lying in the 1800 block of W. Lanvale St., bleeding from wounds to the head and leg. He died a short time later at Maryland Shock Trauma Center, said Officer Troy Harris, a city police spokesman.

In an unrelated shooting, a teenage male was wounded at least once in the face about 8 p.m. yesterday in the 2100 block of Guilford Ave. and was reported in critical condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

The victim's name was withheld, and details of the shooting were not available.
