On Thursday, February 22, 2007, HARRY H. MIDDLEBROOKS, 82, passed away at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness while in Florida. Mr. Middlebrooks was married for 59 years to Janet Middlebrooks. He was born March 13, 1924, in Carmel Church, Virginia, and moved to this area when he was 9 years old. He served in WWII in the Navy as a Boiler Maker on the USS Joseph P. Kennedy and the USS Fullam. He retired from the Baltimore Gas & Electric Company and Professional Home Services, Inc., and spent the winter months in Florida. He also served as President of the Glen Burnie Lions Club and was a member for 30 years, raising countless dollars for eye glasses for those who could not afford them. Survivors include his wife Janet Middlebrooks, three sons, Harry Middlebrooks, Edward Middlebrooks and Gary Middlebrooks, three sisters, Irene Schull, Mary Kesecker and Ida Mae Bentley of Ohio; two brothers, Jimmy Collison of Virginia and Buck Collison of Georgia, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Family and friends may visit Singleton Funeral Home on Sunday and Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. Funeral Services will be at 12 noon at the funeral home on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that contributions be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, (410-987-2003) or Glen Burnie United Methodist Church (410-761-4381).
