Towson Catholic senior Marah Strickland, The Sun's 2006 All-Metro girls basketball Player of the Year, was selected yesterday to play in the McDonald's All American game.

Strickland, a multitalented 6-foot guard who has signed with Maryland, is one of 24 senior girls nationwide chosen for the game, which will be played March 28 at 5:30 p.m. at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Ky. It will be broadcast live on ESPNU.

The last week of March will be a whirlwind for Strickland, who will also play in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association High School All-America Game on March 31 at the NCAA Final Four in Cleveland.

A Street & Smith's preseason second-team All-American, she has scored more than 2,000 career points and averages about 21 points for No. 2 Towson Catholic, which saw its season end Thursday with an upset loss to No. 4 McDonogh.

The Mount Airy resident led the Owls to the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference semifinals in both seasons she played at the school.
