Chamber to host power breakfast

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will hold a power breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Buddy's Crabs & Ribs, 100 Main St., Annapolis.

The cost is $17 in advance and $22 at the door for members, $35 for others.

AACC's Spanish program highlighted

Anne Arundel Community College President Martha A. Smith and members of the college's Center for Workforce Solutions will host a reception Wednesday to showcase its Spanish-language and cross-cultural training available to businesses, organizations and government agencies in Washington.

The customized training teaches English-speaking employees key phrases and words pertaining to their specific job to bridge the communications gap with Spanish-speaking clients, customers or co-workers.

The reception will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the National Press Club, 529 14th St. NW in Washington.

Chamber to hold gala fundraiser

The Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce Foundation will hold its 50th annual gala, with the theme "Tuxes 'n' Tiaras," at 6 p.m. Saturday at the BWI Marriott, 1743 W. Nursery Road in Linthicum.

The gala will include a champagne awards ceremony, seated dinner, casino entertainment, dancing and silent auction.

Tickets are $100 per person or $950 for a table of 10.

Proceeds benefit the Scholarship Foundation of the BWCC Foundation.

Minority business group sets mixer

The Anne Arundel County Minority Business Enterprise Committee will hold a business mixer at 6 p.m. March 6 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of VPB Outsourcing during Business Appreciation Week.

Officials representing the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corp., the Anne Arundel County Office of Central Services, the Maryland Department of Transportation, the Office of Equity and Economic Development, Coalition of 100 Black Women/Anne Arundel County, Chevy Chase Bank and the Holiday Inn will attend.

The mixer will be held at the Holiday Inn, 6323 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. RSVP by Thursday.

Comcast awards event is March 8

The 2007 Comcast Business Hall of Fame and annual Business Awards ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. March 8 at the BWI Marriott, 1743 W. Nursery Road in Linthicum.

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will recognize business leaders in Anne Arundel County for leadership and success, and will induct several business leaders into the Comcast Business Hall of Fame.

Tickets are $60 with paid registration by Thursday; $70 with paid registration after Thursday; $80 for nonmembers.

Business services Web site redesigned

The Anne Arundel Economic Development Corp. has launched a redesigned Web site to provide direct and easy access to information regarding business services.

The Web site address is www.aaedc.org. It was designed and implemented by Exclamation Communications Inc.

Crosby to develop Catholic campaign

Crosby Marketing Communications has been selected by the Catholic Communication Campaign to develop a national public service advertising campaign that promotes the benefits of healthy marriage.

Crosby will conduct research through interviews and focus groups and use those findings to develop television and radio public service announcements.

CCC is an office of the United States Conference on Catholic Bishops.

Cruise line recruits Feng Shui lecturer

Certified feng shui practitioner Yarrow will be a guest lecturer on the Vision of the Seas, one of Royal Caribbean's Cruise Line's liners.

Yarrow's lectures to ship guests will include the principles of feng shui and the traditions and myths of Chinese New Year.
