Bull roast to honor late fire chief

A St. Patrick's Day shrimp and bull roast honoring the late Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company Chief Pete "Axlerod" Caudill will be held from 7 p.m. to midnight March 17 at Jarrettsville Gardens on Federal Hill Road.

Proceeds will go toward settling Caudill's financial affairs.

The event will feature a disc jockey, dancing, wheels of chance, raffles and door prizes. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 10 for $5. Prizes include a golf package to Geneva Farms (including a $25 dinner gift certificate), a St. Patrick's Day Longaberger basket (including a liner, protector and lid), a $100 gift certificate to Bass Pro and a gift certificate from Ripken Stadium.

Event tickets are $35. Anyone purchasing 10 tickets for a table will receive 10 free raffle tickets.

Relay for Life set in Havre de Grace

An American Cancer Society Relay For Life will be held overnight June 15 and 16 at Havre de Grace High School.

Cancer patients and cancer survivors and their families, businesses, civic organizations and the public are invited to participate in this team event to honor cancer survivors and remember those who lost the battle with the disease.

Relay For Life is a family-oriented event in which participants enjoy the camaraderie of a team and also raise funds to support the activities of the American Cancer Society. Participants camp out at the relay site, and when they are not taking their turn walking, take part in activities and enjoy local entertainment.
