College Park -- Jeff Walz can work the big room, even one as big as Comcast Center.

As associate head coach of the Maryland women's basketball team, Walz's bluntly comedic repertoire is on display almost daily, usually to a select audience of players during practice.

Play to remember

Maryland associate head coach Jeff Walz has a reputation for X's and O's and thinking ahead. In last year's win over Duke in the national title game, Walz designed the play that led to Kristi Toliver (right) hitting a late three-pointer to force overtime.

How it developed:

With less than four minutes left, the Terps ran a similar play to see how Duke would defend. Toliver came off a screen by Marissa Coleman, and the Terps expected Duke to double-team Toliver, leaving Coleman open.

When the double team didn't happen, Toliver rubbed her defender off a screen by Crystal Langhorne as planned, started toward the corner for a pass and an open shot. Toliver missed.

Later, down by three, the Terps ran the same play, and Toliver hit nothing but net from the wing with 6.1 seconds left to force overtime.
