Office space sits empty in county

February 18, 2007

As reported Feb. 18, 1990, in The Howard County Sun:

One-fourth of the office space in Howard County sits empty, and real estate experts say the glut of vacancies is draining developers' profits and causing lenders to take a closer look at office projects before signing on.

At 24.7 percent, Howard County's vacancy rate surpasses that of all other Baltimore regions studied by W.C. Pinkard & Co., a Baltimore real estate brokerage firm. Its survey indicates that 1.1 million square feet of office space in Howard County was empty as of Dec. 31.
