Closures announced for Presidents Day

Carroll County Government offices will be closed tomorrow for Presidents Day.

Carroll County public libraries, senior centers and public schools also will be closed tomorrow.

Northern Landfill and the Recycling Center will be open tomorrow.

Town Hall will be closed for three days

The Mount Airy Town Hall will be closed tomorrow for President's Day and Tuesday and Wednesday for packing and moving to the newly renovated Town Hall at 110 S. Main St.

Town Hall will reopen at 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

If residents have an emergency, they may call these phone numbers: 301-748-4943, town administrator; 240-793-3703, town engineer; 240-793-3701, streets supervisor; 240-793-3697, water supervisor.

Residents can drop off water payments, and any other information in the drop box at 3 N. Main St. (temporary Town Hall) through the end of the month or at the 110 S. Main St. drop box beginning Thursday.

The Mount Airy Permit Department will be closed for all business tomorrow through Wednesday, reopening at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. All inspections may be called in to the Carroll County Permits Department at 410-386-2674.

County to receive emergency funds

Carroll County has been chosen to receive $36,869 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county by a national board chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

A local group made up of members of the Circle of Caring/Homeless Board will determine how the funds will be distributed among the county's emergency food and shelter programs.

Deadline for applications is Feb. 27.
