School board has two seats up for appointment this year

The many recent letters to the editor about "zero-basing" the staff at Annapolis High School prompts me to remind everyone that the school board has two seats up for appointment this year: the seat for District 21/32 held by Eugene Peterson and the at-large seat held by Konrad Wayson.

The School Board Nominating Convention is the best way for Anne Arundel County residents to make their views known and to select who should serve on the board. Over the past quarter-century, the convention has had an 80 percent success rate in placing its candidates on the school board.

Candidate nominations must be postmarked by March 1; delegate registration by March 15. The first hearing is April 12 at North County High School.

For registration and nomination forms and the complete schedule, visit the Convention's Web site at: www.geocities.com/sbncaacnty, e-mail sbncaacnty@hotmail.com or call 410-266-7262 and leave a message.
