Melissa I. Frainie, a Wal-Mart clerk and Reisterstown resident, died Monday of a stroke at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She was 35.

She was born Melissa Ireland in La Plata and was raised in Mount Airy. She was a 1990 graduate of South Carroll High School in Winfield and attended Carroll Community College.

"Despite numerous hospitalizations and limited mobility, Melissa never let any adversity stop her from living a full life," said her husband of eight years, Mike Frainie, a financial services specialist with AAA Mid-Atlantic.

For the last nine years, Mrs. Frainie worked as a clerk at the Wal-Mart store on Hanover Pike in Hampstead.

Mrs. Frainie enjoyed listening to music, photography, reading and playing with her two dogs, Tara and Tyler.

A memorial service will be held at noon tomorrow at Mount Airy Full Gospel Church, 13949 Penn Shop Road.

Also surviving are her parents, George and Kathryn Ireland of Bozman; a sister, Lisa Willingham of Taylorsville; maternal grandparents Emanuel Briguglio of Silver Spring and Elizabeth Wieck of Ellicott City; and step-grandmother Evelyn Wileman of Silver Spring.
