City man, 59, charged in repeated rapes

February 15, 2007

A Baltimore man has been charged with repeatedly raping a former Annapolis woman over five years, starting when she was 12, fathering two children by her, Annapolis police said yesterday.

The 59-year-old man, whose name was not released to protect the woman's identity, was arrested Tuesday at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.

The woman, now 28, told police that the rapes began in 1991, when she was living with the man and her mother on Newtowne Drive, and continued until 1996. She had two children as a result, police said.

The man is charged with second-degree rape and numerous other offenses and is being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on $500,000 bond.
