Chamber group plans Annapolis reception

The Public Affairs Group of the Baltimore-Washington Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a reception for business leaders, Maryland legislators and government officials from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Mike Miller Senate Building, 11 Bladen St., Annapolis.

Members of the region's business community will have an opportunity to share their views with legislators and others. Invited guests include county executives and councils of Howard, Anne Arundel, Montgomery and Prince George's counties; state delegates; the governor and lieutenant governor; officials from the departments of transportation and economic development; and others.

The cost is $35 in advance for members; $45 for members paying at the door and nonmembers. Reservations are required.

Farm-energy saving to be topic

A one-day workshop on conservation and renewable energy options for small farms, "Controlling Energy Costs: Practical Solutions for Small Farms," will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 22 at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship.

The cost is $25. Registration is due by March 14.

Businesswomen's breakfast slated

The Business Women's Network of Howard County Inc. will hold a Roundtable Breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Feb. 21 at the Hilton Columbia, 5485 Twin Knolls Road, Columbia.

An interactive discussion, "What's Really Holding Women Back from Success? Learn to Break the Chains That Hold Us Back," will be led by panelists Barbara Lawson, president, Columbia Foundation; Debbie Stroman, president, Soulful Golf; Jean Moon, president, Jean Moon & Associates; and Mary Ann Scully, president, Howard Bank.
