Flamenco Festival

Fans of flamenco music and dancing won't want to miss the seventh annual Flamenco Festival at George Washington University's Lisner Auditorium in Washington this week. Flamenco dancers Joaquin Grilo and Isabel Bayon take the stage at 8 p.m. Tuesday, sharing the program with rising flamenco dance stars La Moneta, Manuel Linan, Olga Pericet and Marco Flores.

The festival continues at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday with a dance from Ballet Flamenco Sara Baras. Known as Spain's most popular flamenco dancer, Baras performs along with her 20-member company and guest dancers Jose Serrano and Luis Ortega. The troupe will present the Washington premiere of the multi-stylized flamenco dance Sabores.

At 8 p.m. Saturday, choreographer Rafaela Carrasco and her company of musicians and dancers perform the Washington premiere of their work Una Mirada del Flamenco.
