Robert Francis Mann, a retired automobile and boat mechanic, died of lung disease and congestive heart failure Tuesday at his Towson home. He was 43.

Born in Baltimore and raised in the Campus Hills section of Towson, he was a 1982 graduate of Loch Raven High School. He attended the former Essex Community College.

He owned Robert Mann Mechanics on York Road in Towson and retired after being injured in a motorcycle accident about eight years ago.

He enjoyed freshwater and saltwater fishing and spent time on the Chesapeake Bay, at Ocean City and on Singer Island in Florida. He also read history and was a seafood cook.

Mr. Mann belonged to Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Towson.

Plans for a memorial Mass are incomplete.

Survivors include a son, Nicolas Bridgeman of Towson; his mother, Dona Gene Mann of Towson; five brothers, Michael Taylor Mann and Matthew Edward Mann, both of Towson, Curtis B. Mann of Ellicott City, David S. Mann of Baltimore, and Thomas John Mann of Columbia; and nieces and nephews. His marriage to Gail Bridgeman ended in divorce.
