Bereavement group offered for children

Hospice of the Chesapeake's Spiritual & Bereavement Care Center has spaces available for its Stepping Stones bereavement support group, formerly known as KidSCENE.

Stepping Stones is for children ages 6 to 17 who are mourning the death of a loved one. Group leaders will help children and teenagers learn to cope through arts and crafts, group discussions and journal writing.

At the same time, the parents or guardians will attend separate sessions on helping children through bereavement.

Stepping Stones will meet from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Wednesdays through Feb. 28 at Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway in Annapolis.

The registration fee is $25, or free for families whose loved one was cared for by Hospice of the Chesapeake.

Baltimore Washington Medical Center will offer the following activities at its center and other locations next month:

Feb. 24, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., a Day of Dance for Cardiovascular Health at the Anne Arundel Community College Student Union dining hall in Arnold. The event will feature screenings for cholesterol, blood pressure and bone density, and educational presentations. Feb. 26, 27 and March 1, beginning and intermediate yoga, "Introduction to Pilates" and "Pilates I" and "Intermediate Yoga/Pilates Combo" classes are being offered. Cost is $30 for each six-week session, and pre-registration is required. 4410-787-4367.

Healthy lifestyles focus of discussion

Anne Arundel Medical Center is offering classes to discuss the importance of healthy lifestyles.

Classes for adults focus on healthy eating habits, lifestyle adjustments and physical activity.

All events will be held at the Sajak Pavilion in the second-floor classrooms.

Feb. 6, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. - "Active Living Every Day" is a 14-week Tuesday-evening program to help participants gain a better understanding of their health behaviors.

Feb. 10, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. - A neuromuscular integrative action class combines dance, yoga and martial arts for total body conditioning and cardio workout.

Flu vaccine offered at 3 health centers

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health will provide flu vaccines, including shots and FluMist nasal vaccine, to residents on the following dates:

Today and Monday - 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Parole Health Center, 1950 Drew St., Annapolis. 410-222-7247.

Friday - 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Glen Burnie Health Center, 416 A St. S.W., 410-222-6633.
