The community is invited to give its feedback at a public forum to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Carroll County Public Schools building, 125 N. Court St., Westminster.

School placement forms are available

Carroll County public schools will have applications available on Thursday for requests to enroll students in out-of-district schools in the 2007-2008 academic year.

Board policy states that students shall attend school in their designated attendance area. In specific and limited circumstances, students may be allowed to go to a school outside their area.

Parents and legal guardians who want an out-of-district placement for their child should review the approvable circumstances on the request form, available from the school office or Student Services Department. Out-of-district regulations will be strictly adhered to in making decisions.

The only public schools designated as "open" for 2007-2008 are: Elmer Wolfe, Friendship Valley, Mount Airy, Parr's Ridge, Robert Moton, Runnymede and Taneytown elementary schools; and Westminster East, New Windsor, North Carroll and Northwest middle schools.

All other schools will be "closed" for 2007-2008, meaning that any out-of-district application submitted for placement will be denied unless it meets the limited criteria for admission.

The deadline for applications is April 1. Completed applications must be sent to: Carroll County Public Schools, Student Services Department, 125 N. Court St., Westminster 21157.

Applications postmarked or received after April 1 will be returned without action.

Information: 410-751-3123.
