The skinny on local clubs

Dead End Saloon

This unpretentious Fells Point pub straddles Fell and Wolfe streets.

Where -- 935 Fell St.

Call -- 410-732-3602

Notable -- A bunch of old tap handles hangs upside down from the ceiling above the bar. If you sit at the bar, look down at the foot rest -- it's a metal trough instead of a wooden beam.

Vibe -- Flags are pinned on the ceiling, video poker machines are by the pool table, and a number of solid beers are on tap. Laid back is an understatement during the workweek, but the place can get rowdy on the weekends.

Crowd -- The Dead End is a Fells Point neighborhood bar where thirtysomething yuppies and older natives comfortably co-exist.

What to wear -- You don't have to dress up for the Dead End Saloon, but if you wear khakis, you won't feel too out of place.

Music -- The jukebox is stocked with everything from Heart to ZZ Top to Sublime.
