Senior Tax Credit Task Force to meet

Howard County's Senior Tax Credit Task Force will hold its third meeting at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Ellicott Room of the George Howard Building.

The meeting is open to the public.

The task force is a citizens committee created by the County Council to determine, by Feb. 15, any changes that should be made to a law that grants a 25 percent property tax cut to those ages 70 and older, whose incomes are less than $75,000 a year. The law requires a freeze at the discounted level for qualified seniors' tax bills.

A public hearing will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Banneker Room of the George Howard Building, 3430 Court House Drive, Ellicott City. Comments and suggestions are invited.

The committee must examine the size of the tax cut (25 percent) and the income limit ($75,000) by the February deadline.
