Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore and Baltimore County.



Church burglary -- On Sunday or Monday, someone entered New Generation Christian Church in the 3000 block of Spaulding Ave. and stole speakers, six microphones, a monitor, duplicator, tape deck, amplifier, mini-refrigerator and power mixer. The property was valued at nearly $4,000.

Stolen vehicle -- A red 1998 Chrysler Sebring with tags 07224AE was stolen over the weekend in the 5100 block of Nelson Ave.

Burglary -- Someone broke into NFCCC Outreach Center in the 3200 block of W. Belvedere Ave. over the weekend and stole nearly two dozen canned goods.


Arrest -- Gerald Johnson, 24, of the 200 block of E. 25th St. was arrested Thursday night in the 2400 block of Barclay St. by members of the Regional Warrant Apprehension Task Force on a warrant charging him with two counts of attempted murder. Johnson, 24, is accused of shooting at a man and a woman outside his home Dec. 27. Neither victim was hit. At the time of his arrest, Johnson was on probation for drug violations, said Detective Vincent Stevenson.

Arrest -- Ernest Rivers, 39, was arrested Thursday while hiding in the attic of a relative's home in the 2800 block of Waldorf Ave. on a warrant charging him with first-degree murder. Rivers is accused in the stabbing death of 18-year-old Jerrisha Burton, whose body was found Jan. 28, 1998, in the back seat of her grandmother's car in the 700 block of Fillmore St.


Armed robbery -- Police were seeking two teenagers, each armed with a handgun, who robbed the Burger King outlet in the 2000 block of Eastern Ave. of an undisclosed sum of money about 9 p.m. Saturday. While one of the robbers remained near the door, the other jumped over the counter and forced employees to remove money from cash registers. Anyone knowing the gunmen's identities or whereabouts was urged to call the district detective unit at 410-396-2422.

Robbery -- An 18-year-old was walking in the 600 block of N. Glover St. about 6:30 p.m. Sunday when a gunman forced him to give up his leather jacket, boots and a cell phone - all valued at $500.

Robbery -- Police were seeking a freckle-faced robber who knocked a 24-year-old woman to the ground in the 2500 block of Boston St. about 2:20 a.m. Sunday during a struggle and stole her purse containing keys and personal property. Police believe the man frequents the area of the crime.

Robbery -- A 36-year-old woman was walking in the 1100 block of E. Fayette St. about 5 p.m. Sunday when a man approached her from the rear and stole her purse containing a cell phone and a small sum of money.


Robbery -- Two gunmen robbed Fusion Carryout in Oldtown Mall of a small sum of money about 5 p.m. Sunday.


Arson -- Police are seeking the person who entered an unoccupied house in the 800 block of N. Stricker St. about 11 p.m. Saturday and set fire to a pair of jeans in a room. The fire caused minor damage and was quickly extinguished.

Baltimore County

Burglary -- Police were seeking two teenage boys who fled from a police officer on Jan. 15, leaving behind a yellow 1994 Suzuki dirt bike that had been stolen that day from a shed in the 8500 block of Pulaski Highway.

Burglary -- A Perry Hall High School ring from the Class of 1977, valued at $70, was stolen over the weekend from a house in the 10000 block of Harford Road by someone who entered by breaking a sliding glass door. Police said the door was valued at $700.


Burglary -- Someone entered a ground-level apartment in the 1000 block of Deanwood Road between Dec. 17 and Sunday through a window and stole a television, digital video disc player, DVDs, stereo equipment and clothing.
