Chesapeake wrestlers top No. 4 Old Mill

Tyler Ernest's major decision at 112 pounds clinched host Chesapeake's upset of fourth-ranked Old Mill, 36-30, yesterday.

The 15th-ranked Cougars (15-8, 6-4) got pins from Sonny Scardina (140), Tyler Lomax (160) and Zach O'Keefe (171) to beat the defending Anne Arundel County dual-meet champion.

It was the Cougars' first regular-season dual-meet win over the Patriots (8-3, 7-1) in at least 11 years. Chesapeake also got major decisions from Jarrid Bosque (119) and Nikko Moranto (130), and decisions from Chris Blake (145) and Robert Melendez (152).

No. 1 St. Frances 59, Mercy 37 -- Mi-Khia Hankins had 15 points and seven rebounds to lead the host Panthers (14-3). Kandice Green added 10 points for St. Frances, which led 34-16 at the half. Mercy was lead by Khadijah Mitchell with 16.

No. 9 Atholton 73, Aberdeen 52 -- The host Raiders (12-2) got 20 points from Brittany Coughlan. Julie Taylor had 17 points and six assists.

No. 5 McDonogh 74, Hatboro-Horsham (Pa.) 34 -- The host Eagles (13-3) rebounded from a 65-60 loss in overtime against No. 2 Towson Catholic Friday night to defeat the Hatters (5-10). Brittany Mallory scored 20, including four three-point field goals.
