Martin-Schaffer Inc., a Bethesda-based ad agency, won eight awards in the 2006 Technical Publications Competitions held by the Washington unit of the Society for Technical Communications.

The American Institute of Architects presented its Award of Excellence in Continuing Education to Marshall Craft Associates. Cited, in part, was the Baltimore firm's 15-year-old education and training program and high degree of commitment for its architects and engineers.

New clients

Pell Communications Inc. of Glyndon added Mortgage Seekers Inc. to its client portfolio.

New contract

TVI Corp., a Glenn Dale-based supplier of first receiver/first responder products, received a contract valued at more than $650,000 to supply the Washington State Hospital Association for decontamination systems.


Smedley's coffeehouse cafe opened in Fells Point at Fleet and Wolfe streets.


Susquehanna Bank moved its office and 80 employees from West Road in Towson to larger quarters in the Hunt Valley Corporate Center at 307 International Circle. It signed an 11-year lease for 34,000 square feet.
