Penelope Cruz is sensational in Volver - she's its lifeblood, its raison d'etre and its meaning.

I've often found Cruz to be the best thing in a picture. She's an actress who can combine intellect and instinct and span sensuality and disillusion. Captain Corelli's Mandolin peaked when she danced a tango to grab the attention of her true love.

Volver (Sony Pictures Classics) Starring Penelope Cruz, Carmen Maura, Lola Duenas, Blanca Portillo, Yohana Cobo. Directed by Pedro Almodovar. Rated R. Time 121 minutes.
