On the Orioles' Jay Gibbons working on playing first base

If I am him, I would have started working at first base very soon after the end of last season. My goal would be to wow the coaching staff and leave them with no other choice than to play me at first base.

I would like to see Jay become proficient as a first baseman. When he's healthy, he's a good ballplayer and he's got some pop in his bat and I think he is better than [Kevin] Millar.

If he shows himself capable of playing first base as well as he plays right field, he might appeal to a National League team needing a left-handed bat off the bench and corner outfielder-first baseman backup.
