KING DAY PARADE -- Baltimore's annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade will begin at noon at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Eutaw Street. TOMORROW

BALTIMORE COUNTY COUNCIL -- Baltimore County Council will meet at 7 p.m. in council chambers on the second floor at the County Courthouse, 400 Washington Ave., Towson. It is expected to vote on the purchase of three Yorkway apartment buildings in Dundalk.

HISTORY LECTURE -- John Page Williams will discuss "Exploring the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Water Trail" as part of a history lecture series at 8:15 p.m. at St. John's College. The talk will be given in the college's Francis Scott Key auditorium, 60 College Ave., Annapolis. Admission is free. 410-626-2539.

WEDNESDAY

ANNE ARUNDEL SCHOOLS -- The Anne Arundel County Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. at the administration building, 2644 Riva Road, Annapolis. The board is expected to vote on the superintendent's recommendations for redistricting.

THURSDAY

HORSE EXPO -- The 11th annual Maryland Horse World Expo will take place from noon to 8 p.m. at the Maryland State Fairgrounds, 2200 York Road, Timonium. It will continue from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults. www.horseworldexpo.com.

FRIDAY

CARROLL'S BIRTHDAY -- Carroll County's 170th birthday will be celebrated from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Westminster Fire Department, John Street Quarters, 28 John St., Westminster. Folklorist Ed Okonowicz will speak on the history of U.S. patriotic songs; refreshments will be served. Admission is free. 410-848-6494.

SATURDAY

NAVY BAND CONCERT -- The U.S. Navy Band will perform at 8 p.m. at Randallstown High School, 4000 Offutt Road. The concert is free, but ticket are required, and can be obtained by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to Winter Concert, 711 Leafydale Terrace, Pikesville 21208.

BIRD PROGRAM -- Kinder Farm Park in Millersville will hold a "Birds and Bird Feeders" program at 1 p.m. for children in grades one to three accompanied by an adult. The cost is $1 per child and reservations are required by Friday. 410-222-6115.

SUNDAY

BOAT SHOW -- The Baltimore Boat Show will continue from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Baltimore Convention Center, 1 W. Pratt St. The show, which is to open Saturday, will run through Jan. 28. Adult admission is $10. baltimoreboatshow .com.
