Killed in Iraq

As of yesterday, at least 3,019 members of the U.S. military have died since March 2003.


Sgt. Aron C. Blum, 22, Tucson, Ariz.; died Dec. 28 at Naval Medical Center, San Diego, of a noncombat-related cause after being evacuated from Anbar province Dec. 8; assigned to Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 352, Marine Aircraft Group 11, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force; Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif.

Spc. Dustin R. Donica, 22, of Spring, Texas; killed Dec. 28 in Baghdad by small-arms fire; assigned to the Army's 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division; Fort Richardson, Alaska.

Cpl. Christopher E. Esckelson, 22, Vassar, Mich.; and Lance Cpl. Nicholas A. Miller, 20, Silverwood, Mich.; killed Dec. 28 in combat in Anbar province; assigned to the Marine Reserve's 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division; Lansing, Mich.
