DOROTHY SAMPLE EYTH was born in Mahoningtown (New Castle) Pennsylvania on May 21, 1910. She passed away on December 23, 2006 after a short illness in Berlin, Germany where she resided with her son Howard C. (Buddy) Eyth, Jr. and his family. She was married to Howard C. (Dutch) Eyth for 68 years. Howard C. Eyth was a teacher, coach and Director of Athletics at the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, MD from 1931 to 1975. He passed away in 2001. Dorothy worked as his secretary both in the school Athletics Department and at Camp Red Eagle for several decades. Dorothy was well known by all to be a most gentle, loving, and caring mother and friend. In addition to her homemaking, her interests were gardening and flower arranging where she won several awards for her African violets. She was a long-standing member of the McDonogh Women's Bridge Club. Dorothy was the sister of the late Walter and Kenneth Sample. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Rosemary Orendorff and her husband Austin of Timonium, MD, and her son Howard C. Eyth, Jr. and his wife Dagmar of Berlin, Germany; seven grandchildren - Debra Nagle, Kathryn Wohkittel, Elizabeth Endly, Howard Carl Eyth, III, Marcus Eyth, Stacy Jones, Sean Eyth and five great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at All Saints Chapel in Berlin, Germany. Dorothy will be laid to rest with her husband in Mars, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to McDonogh School, Owings Mills, Maryland.
