Hospital foundation appoints F.G. Lee

F. Graham Lee has been appointed vice president of Howard Hospital Foundation, the nonprofit organization charged with raising funds to support the hospital's mission.

Lee, who comes to the position with more than 25 years of experience in fundraising, planned giving and development, will be responsible for leading the foundation's effort to raise money for the capital campaign goal of $20 million.

The hospital has named professional staff officers for 2007.

Dr. Michael E. Silverman assistant chairman of the hospital's Department of Medicine, is president.

Dr. Edward J. Lee, who is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology and hematology, is vice president; and Dr. Marc Applestein, who is board certified in urology, is secretary/treasurer.

Toastmaster winners are Barnow, Khan

Barbara Barnow and Fuad Khan were awarded Competent Communicator certificates last month by Patuxent Toastmasters.

The group is the Columbia-based chapter of Toastmasters International.

Both winners completed 10 projects in the Toastmasters' manual, Communication and Leadership.
