Bayless named COO of health system

Victoria "Tori" Bayless has been named chief operating officer of Anne Arundel Health System, the parent company of Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the system, Bayless said she intends to focus on further improving AAMC's quality, patient satisfaction and efficiency.

As vice president of clinical and support services for AAMC, Bayless oversaw clinical program development in medicine, surgery, oncology, women's and children's services, as well as community health and wellness, laboratory services, radiology, food and nutrition, materials management, environmental services, security, and engineering and maintenance.

Bayless received her bachelor's degree from Tufts University and her master's degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. She also holds a certificate in executive leadership from the Georgetown University Center for Professional Development.

Cancer program wins accreditation

Anne Arundel Medical Center's cancer program has earned a three-year accreditation, with commendation, from the American College of Surgeons. A commendation-level approval demonstrates a superior degree of compliance with the standards set for accreditation by the college.

The process includes the institute's submission of documentation followed by an on-site examination to evaluate a program's performance in cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services, research, community outreach and quality enhancement.

AAMC's DeCesaris Cancer Institute is ranked as outstanding in outpatient satisfaction, and is the first See and Treat Cancer Care Center of Excellence in the country.
