Store Opening

Fine lingerie and jewelry: two of our favorite things.

Julia Elgert says her biggest passion is jewelry, but when she decided to open her boutique in Federal Hill, she saw that there was a need for a lingerie shop as well. The Bottom Drawer carries beautiful lines such as Nina V and Arianne, as well as pajamas by Bedhead, Hanky Panky (known for its Oprah-endorsed thongs) and Spanx hosiery.

And then there's the jewelry. Elgert, who lives in Baltimore County, owned Jul's Jewelry in Annapolis until she got tired of the commute and decided to relocate closer to home. She carries contemporary pieces made by artists in Israel, the European line Van Galz and less expensive fashion jewelry.

If you don't find what you want among the jewelry and lingerie, there are plenty of other gift items, such as slippers and handbags made by a local artist.

The Bottom Drawer is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It's closed Tuesday and Sunday.
