Matchup -- Cincinnati (7-5) vs. Western Michigan (8-4)

Site -- Rogers Centre, Toronto

Time, TV -- Noon, ESPN2

Line -- Cincinnati by 7

The game -- This is the first bowl to be played in Canada, and this is the best matchup we Americans could come up with? Cincinnati's coach during the regular season was Mark Dantonio, who left for Michigan State. The new coach is Brian Kelly, who left Central Michigan and will coach today. Kelly directed Central Michigan to a 31-7 victory over Western Michigan on Nov. 10; a Cincinnati win today would make Kelly the first coach in NCAA history with two victories over a school in the same season while coaching different teams. The Bearcats have won four of their past five, including victories over South Florida and Rutgers, and a win would make the Big East 5-0 in bowls. The offense played well down the stretch, and RB Greg Moore and TE Brent Celek are the players to watch. Western Michigan, which lost by eight at Florida State in November, has won with defense. The Broncos have been great against the run (fifth nationally, 71.9 yards per game, with only two opponents rushing for more than 93 yards), and LB Ameer Ismail leads the nation with 17 sacks and the team with 86 tackles. The offense is nothing special. If Western Michigan is to win, QB Ryan Cubit -- the son of coach Bill Cubit -- must have a big day.
