Big Games Return To M&t

January 01, 2007|By GARY LAMBRECHT | GARY LAMBRECHT,SUN REPORTER

In case you need to be reminded of Baltimore's rich lacrosse history, you can make multiple trips to M&T Bank Stadium for a refresher this year.

For the first time since playing host to the men's NCAA Division I and Division III championships in 2003 and 2004, the home of the Ravens will be the site of the sport's annual Memorial Day weekend event. Look for Baltimore, which set attendance records in each year before watching them fall during the event's two-year run in Philadelphia, to make a run at the 50,000 mark on Saturday and Monday.

And if you need a warm-up trip to M&T, the first Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Classic, a doubleheader featuring Johns Hopkins against Princeton and a Virginia-Syracuse contest, will take place there on March 3. Those four schools have won every NCAA title since 1992.
