Cards win fourth of six, lose Leinart

Cardinals 26 49ers 20

Gameday

December 25, 2006

SAN FRANCISCO -- Matt Leinart sprained his left shoulder late in the first half, ending his strong rookie season one game early, and Kurt Warner finished up with 105 yards passing in the Arizona Cardinals' fourth victory in six games, 26-20, yesterday to eliminate the San Francisco 49ers (6-9) from postseason contention.

Leinart was injured when Roderick Green sacked him shortly before halftime, and the 2004 Heisman Trophy winner watched the second half in street clothes. Leinart was replaced by Warner - and the two-time Most Valuable Player struggled before coolly directing a final clock-killing drive for Arizona (5-10), finishing a five-minute march with three straight kneeldowns.
