Stabbing victim found in Leakin Park

The body of an unidentified man was found over the weekend in Baltimore's Leakin Park - the victim of a stabbing, city police reported. A passing motorist spotted the body beside the road in the 4300 block of Franklintown Road shortly before noon Saturday, said Agent Donny Moses, a police spokesman. The victim had multiple stab wounds, he said. Moses said the body appeared to have been dragged, but it was not known how long he had been dead. Police had no suspect and knew of no motive for the slaying.

Body of missing Dundalk man found

The body of a missing 74-year-old Dundalk man was found late Saturday in a stream less than a half-mile from where his partially submerged rental car was discovered that morning, Baltimore County police said yesterday. A K-9 unit found the body of Lawrence Edward Conway of the 900 block of Forwood Court in the steam about 11:50 p.m. Saturday, behind Dick's Famous Halfway Inn, a bar and restaurant in the 800 block of Philadelphia Road - about 2,000 feet from where the car was found, police said. Conway was last seen at the Rosedale Veterans of Foreign Wars hall in the 1300 block of Seling Ave. about 4:30 p.m. Friday. Police said there was no indication of foul play.

FOR THE RECORD - A brief article in Monday's editions on the discovery of a missing Dundalk man's body had the incorrect address for Dick's Famous Halfway Inn. It is in the 8000 block of Philadelphia Road. The item also incorrectly reported that a Veterans of Foreign Wars hall is in the 1300 block of Seling Ave. in Rosedale. That building is an American Legion hall.

Inmate hospitalized after attack

A 35-year-old inmate remained hospitalized yesterday after being struck in the face with an unusual weapon - a combination lock - in an assault at the minimum-security Brockbridge Correctional Facility in Jessup. The inmate - a man serving a seven-year sentence for daytime housebreaking whose name was not divulged - was attacked in a stairwell about 3:15 p.m. Saturday and suffered facial lacerations, said Priscilla Doggett, a spokeswoman for the state Division of Correction. He was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center by ambulance, Doggett said, adding that the attack remained under investigation yesterday.
