Baltimore

Southern

Victims identified -- Police yesterday named the two men who were fatally shot in separate incidents in South Baltimore. About 1 a.m. Friday, Christopher Whitfield, 22, of no fixed address, was found shot in the head and upper body in the 3800 block of S. Hanover St. and died a short time later at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. William James, 44, of the 3700 block of Fairhaven Ave., answered a knock at his door about 11 p.m. Saturday and was shot in the chest by someone who asked for money. James died 30 minutes later at Harbor Hospital.

Northern

Arrests -- Two men and a 15-year-old boy were chased and captured Sunday night in the 4500 block of Bonner Road after allegedly fleeing from a 1992 Honda Civic that had been stolen Dec. 1 in an armed carjacking in the 3000 block of Ellerslie Ave. Michael West, 28, and Tavon Smith, 18, whose addresses were not available, and the juvenile were charged with armed carjacking. A loaded .45-caliber handgun believed used in the carjacking was recovered.

Central

Arrests -- Police monitoring a surveillance camera at Fayette and Liberty streets about 2 a.m. Sunday observed a fight between two men, one of whom was seen retrieving a handgun from a van. Arrested near the scene and charged with unlawful possession of a handgun were Terry Aldrich, 24, of the first block of Fairview Ave. and two men in the van, Darnell Savoy, 26, of the 4500 block of Wakefield Road and Dominic Burgess, 25, of the 3800 block of 6th St.

Arrests -- One man was being sought and three others were arrested Sunday night and charged with possession of a sawed-off shotgun after police stopped a car in the 800 block of W. North Ave. for a traffic violation. Two men remained in the car, but two others fled - one of them discarding a loaded shotgun while being chased. Those arrested were identified as Tavon Bryant, 19, of the 2300 block of Druid Hill Ave., Donya Bea, 20, of the 1600 block of N. Hilton St. and Chucky Fleet, 20, of the 2100 block of Sidney Ave.

Assault/arrest -- A 40-year-old woman was about to enter a bus in the 400 block of W. Lombard St. about 3 p.m. Sunday when a homeless man sprayed her with deodorant. Arrested and charged with assault was Andre Thomas, 42.

Baltimore County

Parkville

Burglaries -- Someone broke a window to enter First Class Paging in the 8100 block of Harford Road about 4 a.m. Sunday and stole an empty cash register valued at $400. About five hours later, someone entered Murray Cellular in the 8700 block of Harford Road after breaking two glass front doors. No property was reported stolen. It was not known whether both burglaries were committed by the same person.
