Man shoots self after 6-hour standoff

A man shot himself to death last night after a domestic dispute with his estranged wife led to a six-hour standoff with police in West Baltimore, city police said. About 3:30 p.m., officers responded to the 2500 block of Arunah Ave. after family members alerted them that the man was at the residence with a shotgun. Police officers negotiated with the man until about 9:45 p.m. and then entered the home. The man, who was not identified, apparently shot himself, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
