Calendar provides emergency tips

December 17, 2006

Harford County Emergency Operations Division officials will distribute copies of the 2007 Emergency Public Information Calendar to more than 95,000 homes in the county this month.

Events noted in the colorful calendar are accompanied by photographs taken by 13 residents.

The calendar's main goal is to provide public safety information for residents to use during man-made or natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods and chemical releases.

The calendar includes checklists of things to do if residents are advised to take shelter or evacuate, and if their children are at school or a day care center.

The county's emergency alert system radio stations (WXCY, 103.7 FM; WHFC, 91.1 FM; and WBAL, 1090 AM) are listed on nearly every page.

The calendar also offers transportation information for residents with special needs. Officials recommend that such residents or their caregivers complete a confidential emergency management survey form to help with their needs. A blank copy of the questionnaire is mailed annually to every home in the county.

Information: 410-638-4900.
