Rosedale man killed in Baltimore shooting

A 29-year-old man who was gunned down in Northwest Baltimore on Wednesday night became the city's 258th homicide victim this year, police said.

Officers from the Northwestern District responded to reports of a shooting in the 4000 block of W. Belvedere Ave. about 9:30 p.m. and found the victim unconscious on the ground. He had been shot in the head and torso, a police spokeswoman said.

Ronald N. Stewart was taken to Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead half an hour later. Stewart lived in the first block of Boymans Court in Rosedale, police said.

In the corresponding period last year, the city had recorded 257 homicides.
