Holiday activities are scheduled

Carroll County senior and community centers have scheduled holiday activities for seniors 60 and older.

Programs include:

Westminster, 125 Stoner Ave., 410-386-3800: A Christmas party will be held starting with carol singing at 10:30 a.m., a turkey dinner at 11:30 a.m. and entertainment by the Goldenaires at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 20.

A New Year's party will be held Jan. 2, with lunch at 11:30 a.m. and the Baltimore County Senior Jazz Band at 1 p.m.

North Carroll, 2328 Hanover Pike, 410-386-3900: A Holiday Gift Exchange will be held at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 19. Holiday attire is encouraged. Please take an inexpensive ($5 or less) wrapped gift to share.

A Christmas turkey dinner will be served at noon Dec. 21.

Taneytown, 220 Roberts Mill Road. 410-756-4557: Holiday events will be held all day Dec. 19. A Cookie Exchange will be held at 10 a.m. The Learning Center will entertain at 10:30 a.m., and a Christmas Party will be held afterward. A Christmas turkey dinner will be served at 11:45 a.m. Dec. 21.

Mount Airy, 703 Ridge Ave., 410-795-1017: A Christmas luncheon and visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be held at 11:45 a.m. Dec. 21.

A Noon New Year's Eve party will be held with a catered lunch and Steve Flynn singing Sinatra from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 29.

South Carroll, 5745 Bartholow Road, Eldersburg, 410-549-1357: A Christmas party will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Sykesville-Freedom District fire hall. A turkey lunch and music by the 1940s Swing Band will be featured. A New Year's party with the Glitterbugs will be held at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 28.

Trips to Baltimore, D.C. open to all

Seniors In Action Recreation Council has announced trips that are open to everyone.

A deposit is required. Travel insurance is available.

Scheduled trips include:

Jan. 11: American Ballet Theatre to see Othello at the Kennedy Center in Washington.

Jan. 25: Hippodrome in Baltimore to see Wicked and have dinner at Sabatino's. The cost is $125 for members and $131.25 for nonmembers.
