WILLARD L. M-bM-^@M-BuBILLM-bM-^@M-Au McBROOM, age 79, of Elkton, MD passed away on Dec. 2, 2006. Son of the late Vola (Bryant) McBroom and Alfred H. McBroom, he was born May 20, 1927 in Bloomington Springs, TN. He attended Lake View High School in Lake Shore, MI. He began working for the Chrysler Corporation in Detroit, MI in 1949, and later moved with his family to Elkton, MD after transferring to the Newark plant. He retired in 1982 and continued as an active UAW member. He served for several terms as the Sergeant at Arms for Local #1183 Retirees. He served as an officer at the American Spirit Credit Union in Newark. In his retirement years, Bill worked in security at various institutions. Bill was also very devoted to and active in the Lions Club International (North East, MD Club). He attended conventions to learn about the many beneficial programs offered to the community by the Lions Club, especially the Leader Dog program for the vision impaired. Bill was the District Governor of the Lions Club District 22B (1996-1997). Bill was an avid golfer. Other interests included creating stained glass projects, learning computers, and attending classes at Chrysler's National Training Center. Bill was an avid square dancer in his younger years and traveled extensively with the M-bM-^@M-Bu2 x 4'sM-bM-^@M-Au of Newark, DE and the Susquehanna Swingers of Havre deGrace, MD. He loved to chat with everyone. He was a special man who will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wilmah (King) McBroom; two sons: Darry and wife Amy of Lancaster, PA and Doren of Manchester, MD; two brothers: Paul and wife Betty of Arizona and James and wife Jane of Michigan; two granddaughters: Daria McBroom and Mariah Wagner and husband John; a great granddaughter, Sierra and a step-great granddaughter, Johnna; several cousins; 11 nieces and nephews; and Susie, his Poodle. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother, Millard. A Memorial Service will be held on Sat., Dec. 9, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. in the UAW Local #1183 Retirees Center, 698 Old Baltimore Pike, Newark, DE 19702. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Leader Dogs for the Blind, 1039 S. Rochester Rd, Rochester Hills, MI or the American Diabetes Association, 110 S. French St, Wilm., DE.
