Senior center picks holiday project

The O'Malley Senior Center, 1275 Odenton Road in Odenton, is sponsoring the West County Family Support Center for its holiday giving project.

The target population at the support center is children to age 3 and their families who are facing hardships.

Donations may be brought to the O'Malley Center office. Needed are diapers, wipes, infant toys, washcloths, blankets, preschool-age puzzles, plastic cups and clothing for boys and girls. 410-222-6227.

Tax-help program in need of preparers

The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging is recruiting for its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, which provides free tax preparation at county senior centers.

New volunteers will receive a week of training in January, followed by instruction on electronic filing.

People with an aptitude for numbers who would like to learn more about being tax preparers should call the county's Retired and Senior Volunteer Program office at 410-222-4464 or contact a county senior center.
