Betty T. Gelston, 71

Betty T. Gelston, a retired accountant, died of congestive heart failure Nov. 28 at Good Samaritan Hospital. The Jarrettsville resident was 71.

Born Betty Lee Tillman in Baltimore and raised in Jacksonville, she graduated from Towson High School in 1953.

During a career of more than 30 years, she worked for Stenerson Mahogany Co. in Cockeysville and William Norris Associates in Monkton, where she retired in 2001. She also operated Betty T. Gelston Taxes, an income-tax preparation business.

Mrs. Gelston enjoyed spending weekends at her trailer in Falling Waters, W.Va.

Her husband of 44 years, Hugh D. Gelston, a heavy equipment operator, died in 1999.

She was a commicant at St. James Episcopal Church in Monkton. Her services were held there Saturday.

Surviving are two sisters, Linda L. Johnson of Jarrettsville and Barbara J. Yarish of Baldwin, and six nephews.
