Don Kammerer, 73

Don Kammerer, retired owner and director of a preschool center, died of heart disease Nov. 26 at his Lutherville home. He was 73.

Born in Baltimore and raised near Clifton Park, he was a 1951 Polytechnic Institute graduate. He earned a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was a member of the varsity tennis team that won the 1957 ACC championship. He then served in the Navy.

He married the former Janice Mulcahy in 1961, and four years later they opened the Belvedere Pre-School Children's Center in Govans. They later opened a second school in Parkville. He retired in 1995.

Mr. Kammerer was a member of the German Society of Maryland, the M Club, the Civil War Preservation Trust and the University of Maryland Alumni Association.

Services were held Wednesday.
