Quarterback Deontay Tyman led Sherwood to a 27-24 win over host Northwest in a Class 4A state semifinal between two Montgomery County teams last night.

Tyman had a hand in all four Sherwood touchdowns, scoring on runs of 10, 20 and 5 yards, and throwing for a 33-yard touchdown to Andral Joly. Tyman finished with 153 yards passing and 106 yards rushing.

Sherwood advances to the 4A title game to face the winner of today's Broadneck-Suitland game.

Friendly 43, Urbana 21 -- Joe Haden rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown and threw for 163 yards and a touchdown to power the host Patriots (13-0) of Prince George's County past the Tigers (9-4) of Frederick County in a Class 3A state semifinal.

McDonough 42, Middletown 14 -- Lucky Flammer ran for 127 yards and two touchdowns to power the Rams (12-1) of Charles County past the Knights (11-2) of Frederick County in a Class 2A state semifinal in Waldorf.
