The skinny on local clubs

Sly Fox Pub

Within walking distance of Ravens Stadium, the Sly Fox Pub is a boldly pro-Redskins and Hokies bar. It opened last year in the corner space that formerly housed the French restaurant Soigne.

Where -- 554 E. Fort Ave., at Jackson Street

Call -- 410-637-3699

Web site -- slyfoxpub.com

Notable -- Draft beers are $5 but come in 20-ounce glasses. The food is also a buck or two more expensive than at some nearby bars. There are several flat screen TVs in the bar area, and a solid sound system. It's also smoke-free every Friday.

Vibe -- Elegant and upscale, shifting from a relaxed lounge and restaurant in the early evening to a vibrant hotspot after 10, when the music director starts spinning and the bar fills.

Crowd -- Mostly young professionals in their 20s and 30s -- even on weeknights.

What to wear -- You can get by with blue jeans and a T-shirt, but if you're looking to impress someone, you might want to put on a nicer shirt.
